Archives Of American Art


Alex Katz has donated over 1,000 documents to the Archives American Art from 1953 to 1982, including news clippings and magazine articles, business papers, exhibition catalogs, photos and works of art. The Archives is the world’s largest collecting institution for the preservation of documents for visual arts in America with over 5,000 linear feet of collections. Located in Washington D.C. and New York, it also has affiliated research centers located in Boston, Fort Worth, San Francisco and San Marino, CA.
The Alex Katz papers are available for viewing with an appointment.
